68% voter turn out, the lowest since the 1880???

So only 68% of the voters could be bothered to show up in what was arguably the most important election ever.

Or should we say that a 100.000 voted with their feet and that 32% really did vote by not voting. There should have been a third option on the ballot. None of the above!

  1. Close enough! “One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.” For me, a lowering voter turnout indicates a feeling of impotency. It matters not what the government says it may do, for it will do what it was all along planning to do, anyway.

And rather than “none of the above,” how about: “none found competent?”

  2. I read a highly relevant quotation from Plato the other day… wish I had it in front of me right now but it goes something like…
“Those who refuse to involve themselves in politics, end up being governed by their inferiors.” How bloody true.

    • I like this one too: You might not be interested in politics but politics might be interested in you.
